Practice Policies
Basic rules
- Be on time
- Show respect to your coaches
- Communicate with your coaches if you are struggling with something
- Bring a water to EVERY practice
- Come prepared with towel, goggles, spare goggles, and a positive attitude!
Practice Groups
Practice groups are determined by age groupings. Occasionally swimmers may not be able to make their practice time and may ask about coming to practice with a different age group. Please speak with the coaching staff about an exception.
Year-round swimmers are not expected to attend summer league practices, as we recommend they prioritize their year-round competitive practices. When possible and when there are no scheduling conflicts, we encourage them to attend the WC practices. While these practices are not likely to be very challenging for them, we believe it helps to build community and a strong TEAM!
Weather policies
We do have to cancel practice and meets from time to time if the weather gets ugly, so it is required that all families stay in touch with our alert systems. We use the Remind App with these alerts, and we will be trying out the Swimtopia Mobile alert system this summer as well. We would like for all our families to have both systems in place so we can reach you quickly in the event of any cancelations.
Swimmers' code of conduct
We expect our swimmers to show good sportsmanship and exceptional conduct at both practice and meets. This includes respecting our coaching staff, all volunteers/officials, their teammates, and other swimmers/spectators at all times. We handle most issues with this 1:1 on the pool deck with warnings, but we will reach out to parents if there are persistent issues that require parental support. If we have addressed conduct issues 1:1 with the swimmer with no success, and parent support also leads to no improvement and/or a lack of effort to improve, we reserve the right to remove the swimmer from the team with no refund.
